Meet Dr. Merner

Hi, I'm Nancy Merner, and I'm an assistant professor at Auburn University and the principal investigator of the Gene Machine. As the principal investigator, I lead the research project. I provide the overall technical and scientific direction for the project, and I coordinate and supervise all the Gene Machine team members as a trained geneticist. I aid in the genetic analyses, and I monitor the overall quality and accuracy of the data we generate. Ultimately, I'm responsible for the communication of our science.

You might ask why I study breast cancer. Well, it's a topic that I'm extremely passionate about. I have cancer in my family, and I want answers, so I want to be able to help you understand why cancer is in your family.

I want to provide opportunities for underrepresented people to participate in research, which is the ultimate goal of the Gene Machine. Together we can make a difference. You can help us by enrolling in our study. Our study criteria are listed on our website. The more people who enroll the higher chances we have to make a discovery. Our work is teamwork, and we thank you for your support.
